The twist of a knife, the birth of a legend...

Book: "The Assasin's Blade"

Author: Sarah J. Maas

Pages: 453

Note: This book includes the events before "Throne of Glass"

Celaena Sardothien owes her reputation to Arobynn Hamel. He gave her a home at the Assasins' Guild and tought her the skills she needed to survive.
Arobynn's stretch far and wide - from Adarlan's rooftops and its filthy dens, to remote islands and hostile deserts. Celaena is duty-bound to hunt them down. But behind her assignments lies a dark thruth that will seal her faith - and cut her hearth in two forever...

I have finally finished the book with the presequel of Celaena Sardothien. Just like every single time - Sarah J. Maas did not let me down.

With this book Sarah J. Maas introduce us to Celaena's world - The Best Assasin in Adarlan. Everyone has heard of her and her success - if we can call killing people a success.

I just love Celaena and the character that Sarah build for her - smart, sharp like her knives, merciless, fearless, extremely attractive, arrogant. I could even dare to say - arrogant , but incredible.

Celaena and Sam are taking the dangerous path of adventures, love fights, and of course - dangerous escapes and fights. Of course, Sarah did not cheat on her style and managed to catch the reader's attention at all times - with the amazing story, new discoveries and unexpected betrayals. And during all of this, somehow Sarah just broke Celaena so many times, that my heart broke with hers. What I was amazed was that no matter how broken and crushed Celaena was, she managed to find the strength to rise again - even stronger than before, and build her character up.

I was amazed by the details of Celaena's world - dangerous, bloody, luxury. And no, I was not hearthless to the conflitcts, the lies, the intrigues and unending betrayel that Celaena has had to go through.... Just at last Celaena finds out that the people that you love the most are the ones that always betray you.

Now, the book include a total of five stories and here's a little bit for every one of them.

1. The Assasin and the Pirate's Lord

It all starts when Celaena finds out about the death of a fellow assassin and a friend of hers. After that the story brings us to the next assignment of Celaena and Sam (incredibly charming and of course a rival of Celaena's in the Guild). The assignment is given to them by Arobynn - The King of the Assasins. Celaena and Sam are having the tough choice - to work together or betray one another. Although Celaena and Sam are having disagreements and they are so not friendly toward each other ,they both are a bit fun at times and unpredictable. After that there are a few series of adventures which in the centre of attention is our Beloved Celaena Sardothien, and alongside her is Sam. And along all those adventures a new friendship is found.

2. The Assasin and the Healer

First of all - I didn't like this story. Even though after the events that followed Celaena and Sam's return to Arobynn and they had to be punished for their disrespect, I was still not impressed with this story. Sarah is introducing and entirely new character - Yrenne Towers. Celaena is staying at a filthy inn and after a few events she meets Yrenne Towers, when Celaena is saving her at a dark alley in the middle of the night. The whole story was focused on Yrenne and how Celaena teaches her to defend herself. Now not to be too negative, I did managed to find some moments that I liked, but overall - not my favorite story. *Spoiler Alert* Maybe I will manage to find what is the point of this story at "Tower of Dawn".

3. The Assasin and the Desert

Celaena is sent by Arobynn in the Desert as a punishment after the events of the first story. Cealena goes in the Red Desert, where for the first time she manages to find a new friend - girl friend - Ansel, who unfortunately turns out to be Celaena's enemy. Celaena is under constant trial of her strenght, endurance and her patience from the Mute Master, however alongside training and glances at the Master's son, Celaena cannot stay too long without an adventure, so she renders along with Ansel in a couple. The events will keep you in a constant anticipation as to what will happen next and there is nothing you can to but to want more and more. And that's exactly what Sarah J. Maas is giving us.

4. The Assasin and the Underworld

Celaena has returned to Arobynn, but she has no idea what awaits her. We are torn between the new adventrues of Celaena - from the fact that Cealena falls in love with Sam and her feelings are not just friendly anymore (so as his), to the constant disagreements with the courtesan Lysandra. Oh, yes, I almost forgot - the fact that Celaena is jealous of Sam. *.* Her relationship with Arobynn is damaged beyond repair and her feelings towards him vary from anger to hatred. From the new assignment that Celaena had, was one very precious lesson - things are not always what they seem.

5. The Assasin and the Empire

I have to say that this story was very hard to read. No matter how much I loved the fact that Celaena and Sam are finally together, they think about their future together, they had the not - so little financial problem - to be free from the Assasin's Guild and Arobynn. Of course, with the right price there is nothing that you can't do. That is why Celaena and Sam took the most dangerous assignment in their entire life. And everything goes down... There's disappointment, betrayal, and... Celaena's life is changed forever - her heart is broken and beyond repair, and trust me - mine broke as well... Blinded by hatred and the desire for revenge, Celaena let herself to be captured.

And if I ever have to give some rating with circles, stars or whatever that is, then I would definitely give this book 5/5 stars.

<--------- Those are supposed to be the stars that people are usually using to give rating for something. So here are my five stars for the book.

At last, I will have to say that when I turn the page back, I easily remember every word that Sarah wrote and every little thing that happened (although I've read the book a couple of days ago), and I still get the chills down my spine from excitement, and after that I get this awful feeling like something is stuck down your throat... Okay, fine, I admit - I cried a lot.

You want to know why? Read the book!

Sadly here's where I'll have to leave you now, so I can read the first book of "Throne of Glass". And how about you guys? You can also do some reading, or if not - you can catch the next review about Celaena Sardothien's adventures!

XoXo, - K.
