THESE ROYALS WILL RUIN YOU...

Reed Royal has it all—looks, status, money. The girls at his elite prep school line up to date him, the guys want to be him, but Reed never gave a damn about anyone but his family until Ella Harper walked into his life.

What started off as burning resentment and the need to make his father’s new ward suffer turned into something else entirely—keep Ella close. Keep Ella safe. But when one foolish mistake drives her out of Reed’s arms and brings chaos to the Royal household, Reed’s entire world begins to fall apart around him.

Ella doesn’t want him anymore. She says they’ll only destroy each other.

SHE MIGHT BE RIGHT.

Secrets. Betrayal. Enemies. It’s like nothing Reed has ever dealt with before, and if he’s going to win back his princess, he’ll need to prove himself Royally worthy.

Hello, Angels!

I am back with the second part of “The Royals” series by Erin Watt - “Broken Prince”.

In the first part we saw Ella and Reed who tried their best to overcome the attraction and the spark between them, however they couldn’t resist. They became a couple and just when Ella was madly in love and thought that finally something good happened in her life, she accidentally caught her boyfriend Reed in bed with his father’s girlfriend Brook. What a mess! And what did Ella do in this situation? The one thing she has done her whole life - she ran away. Oh, well, it’s not like I didn’t expect that from Ella.

In the second book we see things from Reed’s point of view - typically boyish. Reed so as the whole Royal family are trying to find Ella. Everyone in the family is upset, nobody talks to Reed, Easton is diving his sorrow in alcohol, Reed - with fights. Callum however with his private detectives manages to find Ella and bring her back to the family. And no matter how much Ella loves Reed, she would not forgive him so easily this betrayal. Reed’s biggest fear becomes reality - he lost Ella and she doesn’t want to have anything in common with him, she is pushing him away.

To be honest, I wasn’t quite fascinated by Reed’s point of view. I still cannot swallow the fact that he is possessive with Ella and no matter how much he loves her, he cannot accept the fact that he’s been rejected.

Sometimes I was quite annoyed by his arrogance and by the control that he is trying to force on Ella. In overall I’ve had quite enough of sexist actions. Yes, there’s nothing wrong a boy to want to protect his girlfriend… Plus, boys his age are thinking only with a special part of their body. However this obsession that Reed has with Ella… For him it might be love and attraction, but to me it didn’t looked like it in the beginning… But I might give this to the fact that I am such a romantic reader…

So not only Ella is rejecting Reed, and his whole family - his brothers are pushing him away and turning against him so they could protect Ella. Well, it was a matter of time for Ella to realize that she can’t live without Reed and they are meant to be. See, no matter how mixed up my feelings for Reed to be, I still can appreciate a good romance story. And despite all the sexual parts in it, I am still hooked up on this. Well, after a while, despite all the flaws that Reed has, Ella still decided to hear him out to take him back and forgive him. No matter how hard they’ve tried to hide their relationship, Callum is not that stupid after all. There’s no way a parent wouldn’t notice if his kid and his best friend’s daughter are having a relationship under his roof.

Then we have a lot of funny moments, lots of drama and infinite sexual actions and hints. It’s like neither Reed can keep his hands off of Ella, nor does she can. Well, yeah - typically teenage stuff. I might have accepted this better as long as it wasn’t from Reed’s point of view. And to be quite honest, Reed is not one of the good boys. Just the opposite - he is harsh, cynical, always horny and.. Well so many other stuff.

On the contrary, no matter how many bad things I would say, one thing I cannot deny: I love this different, atypical anti utopia and I can’t stop reading it.

The book has lots of moments that can take your breath away and no, they are not the ones that happens behind closed doors and dimmed light, even though we have plenty of them.

Story Time: Before Ella get back with Reed, she decides that she will move on with her life and she would ignore him. She accepts an invite and starts dating Daniel Delacourt - a typical good boy on the inside with manners that every girl in the school wants. Even though Ella has been warned about him - she still accepts and starts to date him, until one night they go on a party together. Then Daniel shows his real self - he drugs Ella and he tries to take advantage of her, then humiliates her. Of course, the Royal brothers would not leave things like this! They beat up Daniel and they go home. Later on, Daniel would not forget this. Soon after Reed and Ella got back together they decide to go on a dinner - as a date, and there at the restaurant they see Daniel with a girl, that is the little sister of a boy from Reed’s team. Ella acts impulsively and with Reed’s help they help the girl got away from Daniel and his grip. I’ve told you this story because Daniel would never forget this and would plot his revenge.

After some very intense moments, some intrigues and lies, Reed, who likes to cool off the steam and his nerves through street fighting , just as usual decides to do just that, and Easton goes with him. Ella follows them secretly and when the fight is over, they are all about to go home happily - then Reed is stabbed with a knife by a person, who has been hired by Daniel Delacourt! See! I told you Daniel would plot his revenge and would never forget it! Wow!

Reed goes into a hospital and Callum Royal takes the matter into his own hands and resolve the issue with Daniel’s father. Reed goes back home from the hospital and is recovering well enough, while Ella and the rest of the Royal family are going on a dinner with Callum’s private jet. What? Have you thought that this is the end and they all lived happily ever after? Oh, no!

Like being stabbed with a knife is not enough, but Callum’s girlfriend Brook tells Reed that she is pregnant and she is constantly trying to manipulate and threatens him that if Reed doesn’t cooperate - she would tell everyone that the baby she’s caring is Reed’s. Yes, the Royals’ life is a huge mess.

And now, don’t you think that with one talk and everything would be okay. No! You are mistaken! So, everyone goes on the dinner with the private jet and Reeds stays home to watch football and recover. After Brook calls him he goes to see her and she is trying to manipulate him and threaten him again, but he walks away. The family comes home from dinner and you wouldn’t believe what they’ve found! Brook is dead and Reed is the last person who saw her alive! He is now the main suspect in her murder and all evidence are against him and showing that he has done it.

If that is not enough shocking drama for you, just wait - there’s more! Steve O’Halloran, Ella’s father and Callum’s best friend, who is supposedly dead, is now showing at the Royal’s family door! Now that’s a twist of events!

After I’ve basically told you the whole book, now trust me there’s not that much that you have missed out.

Even though the book on the bigger part was from Reed’s point of view it had quite a few moments that I wasn’t a big fan of, however with the storyline unfolds I have come to love the Royals. And I cannot hide the fact that I’ve read those books in a blink of an eye. No matter how mixed my feelings can be towards the books, the storyline and the main idea is actually good. It doesn’t matter how much money and how much power the Royals can have and how many doors this unspeakable fortune can open, there are times when even the power and the money cannot save you.

To be honest, this review got way too long and I’ve dived into the story, but for me it was quite important and I had to. Yes, the Royals with their immeasurable fortune, money, lux and their high standards are still people and they have issues. And no matter how Ella felt in the beginning, she definitely loved them as her family, just as they loved her. All the boys from the Royals agree that Ella is the best thing that happened to them in quite a long time.

And if you ask yourselves is it really worth it to buy the books from the series and to dive into this different dynamic world, filled with lux, lies, secrets and intrigues then yes, this anti utopia is totally worth the money and the time.

Despite the countless scenes that captured my attention, there were those that didn’t and those that have left me shaken. It’s not a lie, these Royals will destroy you.

Go get the book and see for yourself!

As a rating I will put 4 / 5 golden stars and I am off to the next book, so I can find out how Reed and Ella will get through to all of this drama!

And you, my dearest Angels, don’t stop reading and remember: A book a day keeps the reality away!

XoXo, - K.
